We’re approaching the zenith (or nadir, depending on how you feel) of summer.
And I think a lot of us have hit a wall. We’ve got the summer blues. The same thing often happens in the heart of winter. We get burnt out on relentless heat or cold. So maybe we’re tired of the heat, the kids, work, cooking, the drought, or the torrential downpour, the humidity, the fires, you name it, we’re feeling listless and exhausted. I know I’ve been tired and overworked for a while. And the heat hasn’t helped. I need to be next to a pool or the sea, and I’m not. So what’s the answer?
Do The Work.
All the things we talk about and write about and post daily tips about, they work. Do them. I find myself getting depressed and lacking energy, I meditate. I feel better. Not miraculously better but improved. If I’m sleeping poorly (argh, the heat again!) and working too much, I make sure I have a kale smoothie with extra orange, mint, and ice. It’s energizing. If I annoyed with everyone around me, I stop judging them, and then I find I go easier on myself. If I’m frustrated by the lack of movement in my life, I create a vision board, or I walk in nature (never mind the weather). I do one of our Happiness Series workouts. They really kick my ass, and I feel better after doing something physical. There’s inspiration everywhere. The point is, now is the time when everyone’s patience and happiness wears thin, and we have the answers in ALL of us, on our site, in our meditation. Do the WORK and your work gets easier. Commit to making a kale smoothie every day for a week, commit to meditating 5 minutes a day, commit to writing down 5 things you want, commit to doing something for someone else this week. Commit to being happier. And I promise you things will cool down.
