Missed Connections
Never say never — hope is not lost

Forget Rosalia — my middle name should be ‘late to the party.’ Why? Well, as I was perusing Craigslist last night (ostensibly to help someone find an apartment but also to find myself a beach cruiser) I noticed the ‘Missed Connections’ section. What a brilliant concept! If you’re tripping along as blithely unaware as I was, I’m urging you to read this and pass it along. Don’t you fancy the idea of being someone else’s ‘missed connection’? Isn’t the thought that a guy noticed you enough to take a long shot and post on a random website in the hopes of actually meeting you totally romantic?
Craigslist exists everywhere in the USA, as well as seven countries in Africa, all over Oceania, Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia, the Pacific, the Middle East, Europe and Canada. Which simply means you have chances to make those missed connections everywhere in the world. You have no excuse not to go for it.
Still unclear? Look at this post from a besotted gent in Los Angeles. To Robin from San Diego he writes, “I saw you at a friend’s house today, I couldn’t look away, you are very attractive, wish I had the nads to say it to your face! you live in San Diego, party in av?”
What if Robin were reading this and felt the same way? What if she couldn’t look away, either?
I believe in taking chances when we get them. There are so many ‘what ifs’ in life, so why create another one out of shyness or fear? (If you don’t think I practice what I preach, just ask a certain young gentleman I approached at the gym). Taking a risk may not pay off in the long run, but at least you’ll know and never have to wonder about what might have been.
But not everyone can do this. I understand that — which is why your second chance does exist somewhere, maybe. If you put something out into the universe and you really, really want it, how can it not be returned to you if it’s meant to be?
So take that leap of faith. Even if it doesn’t work out in the long run, you’ll be happier knowing that you took a chance rather than always wondering what might have been.
