August Highlights
There are two Eclipses in August: a Solar Eclipse in Leo on the 12th, then a Lunar Eclipse in Virgo/Pisces on the 28th.
These are important amplifiers of the underlying urgency. Their effect is immediate, but will be triggered into action again later in the year.
The North and the South Nodes of the Moon switch signs from Pisces/Virgo to Aquarius/Leo. The North Node will be here until March of 2028.
This will be a collective shift in consciousness from worry over outcomes to being more relaxed and willing to release ourselves from the need for assurances before acting. This is a movement from seeing others as a function in our lives to recognizing each person’s genuine uniqueness.
Saturn, Neptune and Pluto remain Retrograde all month.
At the same time, Jupiter and Uranus are direct and adventuring forward and plowing new fields. We will discover new shiny objects in the newly turned over soil.
Mercury (in his forward motion) goes through Cancer, then Leo, and finally, the first 11 degrees of Virgo. Mercury never transits too far away from the Sun.
Every year, from the third week of May (Sun enters Gemini) until the third week of September (when the Sun leaves Virgo) Mercury is happiest. Mercury connects through thoughts, speech, and travel. The transits of Mercury in August are providing the tools for translating thoughts into action.
The New Moon Eclipse
A Solar Eclipse comes with the New Moon on the 12th at 1:38 PM EDT at 20 degrees of Leo. With six planets in fire (excitement), and no earth (practicality), extraverted enthusiasm is through the roof. Because this is a long-range visionary Eclipse, this energy carries forward as a backdrop for all other activities for months. Mars at Zero Cancer is the only water planet; Mars is Trine both the Mean and True Nodes. The Mean Node is at Zero Pisces and the True Node is at 29 Aquarius. Because Mars is in his fall, we are likely to see energy for projects shuffled covertly to power ongoing concerns. Things get smoother when we ditch unproductive habits, and bask in the joy that is in easy release mode now. Venus (in her own sign of Libra) forms a Grand Trine in Air with Uranus and Pluto. Venus also is Opposite Neptune and Sextile Mercury. When we work for the good of all, there is potency and balance in every action. Venus and the Sun are in their own rulerships (Libra and Leo) and Semi-square each other. Venus, 45 degrees away from the Sun, is almost as far as the planet of love can ever be away from the ego. Both are strong and show that this solar month will create a template for the next period that favors sacrifice in order to win a victory for the larger gains of the society.
The Sun enters Virgo
The Sun crosses into Virgo on the 22nd at 10:20 PM EDT. Even though the South Node is on the last degree of Leo, it’s still closely Conjunct the Sun. We are magnetically pulled toward past habits symbolized by the South Node. The Moon in Capricorn is separating from the Trine to the Sun and applying to the Square to Neptune in Aries. For this solar month, accomplishment is more important than appearance. What we do is more important than what people think of us. Venus Opposite Saturn reminds us that just because we are often stopped by fear, doesn’t mean that there is no reason for the fear. Generally, we are better off to stay on the road most traveled, unless there is a strong, obvious, and reasonably verifiable excuse to alter course.
The Full Moon Eclipse
This Eclipse happens on the 28th at 12:20 AM EDT at 4 degrees 54 minutes of Virgo/Pisces. The Sun and Moon, while Opposite each other, are both Square Uranus. Uranus in Gemini is at the root of a Mutable T- Square; the way we are looking at the world is being turned on its head. The Sun and Moon are on the Mid-point of Neptune/Pluto and in aspect to both, forming a potent configuration. This demands paying attention to the larger picture. Theory is moderated by practical concerns.
As Mars moves toward a Square to Saturn, Jupiter closes in on a Trine to Saturn.
We wish to be precise, but the details seem to allude us. The rain falls whether or not we are walking in it.
Mercury is Square Uranus and Quincunx Neptune/Pluto and sits on the Midpoint.
The last vestiges of reason seem to be replaced by a new vision of what is possible. Venus Sesquiquadrate Uranus implies that we will be moved by forces beyond reason; beauty emerges as we take chances.
The Days
- 1st – Saturday – Mars Contra-parallel Pluto, Mercury Semi-square Uranus – Circumstances outside our normal routines capture our attention. If we are able to communicate our desires without too much animation, we can help others come aboard an information-rich side trip.
- 2nd – Sunday – Timing is everything. If we are sensitive to the environment we will know the right time to act. This is an incredibly fortunate time for those attuned to the natural world. Our job is to be observant, open, and available.
- 3rd – Monday – Even though we feel the pressure of some restrictions closing in, we are encouraged to focus on opportunities. Some changes in society have imposed new limitations. Capturing the advantages of the moment requires recalibration.
- 4th – Tuesday – Venus Parallel Neptune – Our natural inclination is to take others along with us when we embark on a new enterprise. We have family on the beach when we take a dip in the ocean. Our connection is maintained by sending messages.
- 5th – Wednesday – Looking for a practical outcome will slow us down, but this is a good thing. Once the casserole is in the oven it will take time for it to cook, and it really couldn’t have been micro-waved.
- 6th – Thursday – Mercury Contra-parallel Neptune, Venus enters Libra – When we take care of domestic chores, more space appears in our lives. As we let go of the need to prove a concept by its ability to produce practical results, life becomes more balanced.
- 7th – Friday – Sun Trine Saturn – A steady hand helps the archer take aim; once the arrow is let loose, the atmosphere changes and results happen in rapid succession. Long-awaited good news arrives.
- 8th – Saturday – Mercury Semi-sextile Mars – So much happens in casual conversation and coincidental meetings, we usually don’t take much notice. But we are actually learning new methodologies and it’s worth our time to take some notes. Ordinary pleasantries open new gateways.
- 9th – Sunday – Mercury enters Leo – Nervous messaging and continuous worrying over results from past actions hamper clear thinking and slows forward momentum. The best way to face the future is to own our thoughts and actions, but then move on.
- 10th – Monday – Venus Trine Pluto, Venus Opposite Neptune – Reflection can be soothing and helps us remember our overall goals. Each of us is unique, and yet, we are attached to each other. Harmony comes through recognizing and accepting differences. In the greater collective, something significant and extraordinary is getting ready to emerge.
- 11th – Tuesday – Mars enters Cancer, Sun Sesquiquadrate Neptune, Mercury Opposite Pluto, Mercury Trine Neptune, Venus Trine Uranus – Bold steps allow us to transform basic information into a larger picture of life. We can actually turn raw data into wisdom, thereby learning directly from our actions. This is an inimitable moment.
- 12th – Wednesday – Venus Contra-parallel Saturn, Solar Eclipse is at 1:38 PM EDT at 20 degrees of Leo, Mercury Sextile Uranus – It’s easy to see what must be done. We stay emotionally buoyant if we are positive. Difficulties have solutions when we believe that they exist.
- 13th – Thursday – Mercury Sextile Venus – Our immediate task is to make order from puzzle pieces in front of us. If we are able to move forward in our chosen path, without interruption, then others will see what we are doing, and come along. Others may have answers that have eluded us. We learn from each other.
- 14th – Friday – Relaxing is its own reward. Anticipation of the weekend helps our mind rest, as well as the rejuvenating refreshment that comes from deciding to disengage from what looks like productive actions. There will be a moment to move forward soon.
- 15th – Saturday – Mercury Conjunct Jupiter – Enthusiasm and a stable hand are a winning formula bringing forth a wealth of new ideas. Sharing what we know with others has real potency if we genuinely care about the ideas offered up by members of our intended audience. Survival of ideas depends on the continuing development of relationship. Alone we are destined for setbacks; together we flourish.
- 16th – Sunday – Mercury Parallel Jupiter, Mars Quincunx Pluto – There is an ever-widening gulf between what we do for ourselves and what we do for others. Inclusive thinking is favored. Singular strategies hold a short-term promise, but a long-term trap. Good boundaries help sustain the integrity of every organism.
- 17th – Monday – Mars Square Neptune, Mercury Trine Saturn, Venus Sextile Jupiter – Discipline and right choices help us focus on what is truly important. Even with right attitude and right effort, it is tough to get the energy to move in the most productive channels. It isn’t interruptions; it’s that our vision is larger than our immediate capacity. Prioritizing helps.
- 18th – Tuesday – The hardest part is just getting started. Once in motion the day unfolds pretty easily. Inner conflict reseeds and then recedes. Emotional impulses guide our immediate direction. Unconscious impulses pull us in one direction; now, are we going to go with the flow, or are we going to look at the alternatives? Self-affirmation arrives in stages.
- 19th – Wednesday – Mars Semi-sextile Uranus, Mercury Sesquiquadrate Neptune – An overactive imagination can land us in a land of make-believe. Still, this is an opening; undiscovered impulses and deeper self-knowledge emerge. Progress requires some sacrifice. We each must decide whether our baggage is ballast or dead weight.
- 20th – Thursday – Mercury Semi-square Mars – Positive energy pushes us to pursue our goals, even when confronted with obvious barriers to success. Every story has a happy ending if we read on long enough.
- 21st – Friday – Venus Opposite Saturn – Fear of rejection can cost us support that is ours for the asking. Self-acceptance is the bottom line necessary for forming partnerships. The value of others in our lives is not quantifiable.
- 22nd – Saturday – Sun Sesquiquadrate Saturn, the Sun crosses into Virgo on the 22nd at 10:20 PM EDT – Taking a cold hard look at our current interests and commitments should be inspiring. We can see clearly what is required in order to feel validated. The good news is that hard work is rewarded.
- 23rd – Sunday – Limitations of time, money, and energy forces us to make choices. The most important thing is that we do something and not feel overwhelmed. We lighten our load when we prioritize and sequence. Physical motion is necessary to feel complete.
- 24th – Monday – Mercury Sesquiquadrate Saturn – We don’t know how much we are really capable of until we are working at near full capacity. The best strategy today is to stay in our lane and keep on with exactly what we have been doing.
- 25th – Tuesday – Mercury enters Virgo – We get a lift and a promise for more. Difficulties expand if our insecurities push us to keep examining recent past maneuvers. Trust in our own judgment frees us from worry.
- 26th – Wednesday – Mars Contra-parallel Pluto, Sun Quincunx Pluto, Sun Quincunx Neptune, Sun Contra-parallel Venus – Too many options stop us from making intelligent decisions. One step, even in the wrong direction, gives us more useful information than hours of idle speculation. We learn from the immediate feedback supplied by each step.
- 27th – Thursday – Mercury Quincunx Pluto, Mercury Quincunx Neptune, Mercury Semi-square Venus – Today is joyful if we have the common sense to get our thoughts and feelings on the same page. Inner conflict is the enemy of progress. Isometrics build strength, but it’s still sedentary, and this is a time of putting theory into practice.
- 28th – Friday – This Full Moon Eclipse happens at 12:20 AM EDT at 4 degrees 54 minutes of Virgo/Pisces, Mercury Square Uranus, Mercury Contra-parallel Venus, Venus Sesquiquadrate Uranus, Sun Square Uranus – Sometimes the gulf between being right and being accepted by others is so wide that we can’t have a foot in both realities. There isn’t an abstract right and wrong. The subjective truth is “what we are willing to live with.” This is a moment of declaring what we really want, then acting on our choices.
- 29th – Saturday – Sun Semi-square Venus – Is our emotional life grounded in reality? It’s an important time for synthesis. Time off for dreaming is fine. If we chose a leisurely day, then it is important to get our mind to settle down so we can truly rejuvenate.
- 30th – Sunday – If we enjoy close detailed work then this is a perfect day. If we have a feeling that we are supposed to be productive, or if we have an agenda of special projects outlined, then it’s best to assume that a ridged timeline will be difficult to maintain. Self-criticism makes everything harder. We do need to relax.
- 31st – Monday – Sun Parallel Mercury, Jupiter Trine Saturn – With one foot on the brake and the other on the gas pedal we tend to work against ourselves. In the big picture, the world seems to be doing just fine. As individuals, sorting out the details of daily life can be perplexing. We’ve reached the end of the month. Are we coasting to the finish line, or over-amping to get there? The trick is to keep moving without stress.
