May Highlights

This year the month of May begins and ends with a Full Moon.  Full Moons are a time of climax, completion, accomplishment, and simplification.  It is said that Buddha was born, obtained enlightenment, and passed out of His physical body on this Full Moon in May.  For many years I have meditated at the time of this Full Moon, in concert with a group of Alice Bailey devotees.  I have always found it to be immensely powerful.

This month begins with a potent Square between Mars in Aries and Jupiter in Cancer.

Tremendous energy is generated and sustained all month.  This is a blessing if we know where we are going.  At the time of the New Moon (the 16th), we receive corrective information from the cosmos; if we calm our passions, difficulties won’t seem so enormous, or so urgent.  The world is still a mess, but our personal lives don’t have to be.  As we become more settled, relationships become easier and more pleasant.

On the 1st the Full Moon occurs on 11 degrees of Taurus/Scorpio at 1:24 PM EDT –

Like a snake molting his skin, we drop the excess baggage, and experience the creative spirit of flying through the moment with fire (four planets) and air (three planets) dominating.

With Pluto Squaring and Jupiter Trine and Sextile the Sun and Moon, new light emerges through a struggle.

What has to happen, will.  Our job is sit loose in the saddle and be willing to change direction, approaches, even methodologies.  The way in front will always be interesting and fun. This Full Moon is the Wesak Festival.  Some schools of Buddhism celebrate this as the anniversary of Buddha returning to earth, and lifting the vibration of the planet.  Meditating at the time of any Full Moon is potent, but this particular one carries a strong charge.  This year, this moment is particularly pivotal because of the overwhelmingly positive charge of the atmosphere.

On the 2nd Mercury goes into Taurus and encourages us to be more practical and cautious in what we say.

The Square to Pluto can take us through an evaluation process.  We are apt to say no to some things that look too hard. But we can get moving on an important project, and come to realize that some things are important to work for, even if we can’t get closure immediately.
On the 4th Mars is Square Jupiter – Emotional energy is so explosive that we may stumble around and lose direction.  A fast start can sputter out if we don’t regulate our energy.  When higher judgment guides action, we promote the good for our family, our community, our world at large; we are on the road to fulfillment.

On the 6th Pluto turns Retrograde and will remain so until October 15th –

We get a window into our past and can review the technological innovations of the last few years; we may want to alter our priorities and methods.  A redirection is likely to be more massive than it first appears.

On the 8th Sun Semi-square Neptune –

Imagination can be impulsively applied to circumstances without careful evaluation.  Good ideas can be out of sync with the reality of current events.   Timing is most important.

On the 10th Sun Sextile Jupiter –

Both utility and familiarity move some ideas to the front of our consciousness. Inspiration and enthusiasm drives us to find the most practical solutions to puzzles in our path. Comfort may be the final test to prove the worth of our current situation.

On the 13th Mercury Sextile Jupiter – Insights and innovation are easily put into practice.

We are on a roll. What we reach for is within our ability to obtain. The bottom line is proof of concept.

On the 14th Sun Parallel then Conjunct Mercury –

We can’t save a dollar and spend it simultaneously.  Part of getting a steady mind now is making decisions that require prioritizing.  Getting the correct picture of circumstances involves repetition to develop clarity.

On the 16th the New Moon is at 4:02 PM EDT-

We may feel safe and settled where we sit, but at the same time, we can see the prompting of new adventure.  Provided we don’t wander too far from our basic foundation, opening the window to let fresh air and sunlight in can noticeably change our environment. Family and creature comforts pull in one direction, but romance and excitement is a voice calling from far away.  All month the feeling that something is missing from our life encourages a deeper self-exploration.

On the 17th Mercury enters Gemini, Mercury Conjunct Uranus –

The promise of excitement and unique insights wake us from a slumber.  We can wander haphazardly for a while, but eventually our untested pathway brings us to something tangible. Diligence and observation reap rewards.
On the 18th Mars enters Taurus, Venus enters Cancer –  Discovering something new in the commonplace helps us relax and enjoy the present moment, and uncovers new meaning in our memories. We know more than we know.

On the 19th Mercury Sextile Neptune, Venus Sextile Mars, Mercury Parallel Jupiter, Mercury Trine Pluto –

Information approaches from many directions, but different news sources are reporting on the same events.  Carefully straining all the data allows us to actually do our own thinking; what a concept. When we are still, a quiet reflection provides confidence to take the next step, which is obvious.

On the 20th Sun enters Gemini at 8:38 PM EDT –

World events feel overwhelmingly electric with the Sun Conjunct Uranus, moving into a harmonious aspect with Neptune and Pluto.  We are entering a month of, and refuge from, universal chaos.  Potency comes through remembering the higher experiences of love and harmony from days gone by.  We recreate them in a new context.  With the Sun, Uranus, and Mercury in Gemini Trine Pluto in Aquarius, we apply force, and then innovate to complete a mental overhaul.  Venus is Trine the North Node and Mars is Trine the South Node.  We do best when we follow our heart.

On the 22nd Sun Conjunct Uranus, Mercury Sextile Saturn –

Excitement has meaning beyond mere inspiration when we stay mentally focused and disciplined.  There may be a breakdown between theory and practice, but note taking can give us fuel for later attempts at materializing our brilliant insights.

On the 26th Mars Square Pluto, Sun Trine Pluto, Mercury Parallel Venus –

A great car, plenty of gasoline, we are dressed and in the mood, now where to go?  Lots of energy and intensity without a clear direction can cause more difficulties.  There is no penalty for going slow.

On the 27th Mercury Sesquiquadrate Pluto, Mercury Semi-square Mars –

Research and careful study are a virtue on any exploration; our job is to keep moving, and to learn by following the empirical evidence.

On the 31st Full Moon is at 4:46AM EDT, Uranus is Conjunct the Sun and Opposite the Moon –

Nervous energy can prompt us to change for the better. So many possibilities are available to us; we just have to embrace the inevitable.  Saturn is Trine the Moon and Sextile the Sun.  Even though relationships are jittery, we are pushed to bring harmony out of impulsiveness.  Sharing our lives with others enriches our daily routines.  Others experience the same emotional impressions creating a community of common values and interests.

My Personal Note

As I’m writing this, I received news from my dearest friend Leela; her husband, Dale, has just passed away.  They were childhood sweethearts, marrying September 7th, 1960.  I knew Dale; he was truly an advanced karma yogi; I loved him and am grateful for our time together.   Leela and I met in 1978 and developed a warm, supportive, and spiritual friendship.  My heart goes out to her and her family.

My talk on Jupiter is posted on my YouTube channel: Jupiter and our Higher Mind | an Astrology Talk

On June 8th at 8 PM EDT, I’m giving a talk, “Venus, Astrology, and the Path”.  This is a fundraiser for the Alexandria iBase Project. Here is the link to register: Venus, Astrology, and the Path – AIP. (Note: the website lists the time right now as 8am-5pm, but actual time will be 8 PM EDT.) This talk expands material on Venus from my book, “The Heart of Astrology”.

A number of my clients have requested that I not record our sessions, some asked for all AI tools to be disabled.  One client asks me to destroy my own copy of work related to their personal session. The concern about AI and other advances in technology are real concerns.
Mai Ballard ‘wrote’ a book, “Shy Girl”.  Her publisher in the UK, and in the USA, dropped it after it was discovered to have apparently been written by AI.  Self-published books skyrocketed to 3.5 million last year, dwarfing traditional publishers.  The world is changing; I’m in favor of technological innovation.  I don’t use AI to write or create my newsletter or videos.   To be completely fair about this, the AI wars will continue.  Despite the good, AI is responsible for these monstrous data centers which should be illegal, unless the people who live in the community where they are built unanimously vote to have these polluters of civilization occupy and damage their community.  Fair enough.
I woke up in the middle of the night and was thinking about a movie that I saw in 2007, “Freedom Writers”.  I watched it again with my neighbor, Deborah Smith, then again with my daughter, Katie.  It was more inspirational than when I had seen it originally.  The movie was based on a true story so I went on-line and found this documentary to get the story behind the movie.  You might enjoy it:
